The BitComet program uses HTTP and FTP to download all types of Media including Movies and Games. Pros
It has a few nice features in it, such as Support for Auto Config ICF or Internet Connection Firewall, you can control files by disabling them to where they won’t download or control the times that they do. It also works with HTTP and FTP, for multiple languages web pages; you can resume where you left off after stopping your download. It also has a bandwidth scheduler. Another Pro is the download size of the program itself, its relatively small for a program of this type. Oh and we cannot forget that it is Free.
Cons
There are a few cons to the BitComet; some have mentioned the newer versions are not as stable as the older ones. The program seems to have more problems then it used to have. It also states that there is no Adware or Spyware in the program yet my anti-virus program found some. You can also only download what is available on other users, which means you download from their computer to yours. Now I know that’s how Peer-2-Peer works, but it does not sound very safe to me.
Summary
I have to say after researching the program and then trying it out, that it does download somewhat faster than the others. However I would not recommend it to anyone, unless they have taken all the necessary precautions to protect their computer. Which if you are already downloading something such as the Program or the files you should already be protected. I have to give the BitComet a 5 for rating, but realize that it’s the newer program I have a problem with and maybe if they can get the bugs out then it will be as good as its predecessors.
