Msn messenger description

MSN Messenger is a program that was built to help you easily chat online using text, voice or even real time video conversation. Faster than the old style email, MSN Messenger is an excellent choice for talking with your family, friends or colleagues at work without being physically close to them. MSN Messenger offers a wide range of amazing new ways to share photos, connect with your buddies and much more. A next-generation piece of code, MSN-Messenger is completely free to download and most of its features won't require you to pay a single cent, either.

In late July 1999, MSN Messenger was released into the wild, a few years ahead of its time. Back in those days, the average PC user didn't have any clue on what's what with this "instant messaging" thing. In the meantime, MSN Messenger became a huge success, going over the 150 million active users per month mark, turning Microsoft's offspring into one of the most widely used Internet-based apps ever.

Quick list of features:<br/>

  • Telephone and PC-to-PC calls
  • The ability to share folders
  • Customizable login screen
  • Dynamic backgrounds that allow you to easily add animated background to your MSN Messenger's message windows
  • PC-to-phone SMS messages
  • Improved video conversations
  • A new, super-powered, bidirectional address book
  • Windows Live Alerts
  • Soon to arrive: the ability to talk to your Yahoo! friends
  • Moods, winks and nudges are now available for the users of this program

Note: During our thorough tests, we noticed that the version presented here, MSN 7.5, is even more stable than "Windows Live Messenger," so we can do nothing else bu recommend this older version over Live. If you're still stuck with a really old computer and OS, you should keep in mind that both Win95 and WinNT4 are no longer supported by any MSN Messenger version after 5.0.

Editor's note: While MSN Messenger 7.5 has been removed from Microsoft's network some time ago, you can still download it for free from our file server. At the time we wrote this, the latest version available is Windows Live Messenger 2011 (Build 15.4.3508.1109), offering features like photo sharing (Album Viewer, based on Windows Live Photo Gallery), advanced personalization capabilities, favorites, groups, games and apps, social networks integration and more. If you're still trying to find the old MSN Messenger downloads, you can find these previous versions right on this page, below.

i wanted to register a new hotmail account, but instead it keeps on asking to download hotmail live, so i did and it gave a newer version of msn, rather than a hotmail acct. Worse still, it deleted my good old msn 7.5, even re-arranged my friends list!! Unbelievably shocking! Had to delete it, then re-download msn 7.5, Thank God it can still be downloaded for free!! A good site!

i love this messenger it is so awesome. i sort of like the old messenger more than the old one which is msn messenger 7.5 because the new one has all this new stuff that i never really need or use so if you want msn and don't need all that extra stuff that will just make your computer run slower than this is for you.

i think that it is stupid that msn messenger 7.5 requires windows xp because what about the people who don't have that. and I'm pretty sure that it was not like that before because i had msn 7.5 on my old computer that also didn't have xp. now my laptop has windows 2000 and who cares. UGH i just want msn. STUPID MSN!

I was forced to upgrade, at leat that's what it felt like, to Live Menssenger and it does not work with my firewall at work, took longer to load and did not seem to offer the messaging user anything more - I am sure if I was a video user it would have been better but this version suits me just fine
